And so the Story Begins...
In the land of Talamh Liath, or so the story says, the gods created the beings who walked upon the earth. However, the gods were drawn off to other worlds, other beings who needed their power, so they granted special individuals with the might of the gods. Magicians, Wizards, Oracles, Enchanters. The names the people called them did not matter, for the world knew they were blessed with great power. With just a few simple words and a wave of their staff, the mages could cast away the plagues and floods, or call upon new calamities. The people knew they were blessed, and they were frightened.
As time went on, the people rioted against the mages, and used their technologies and weapons of war, ones the mages had no use for, against them. Battles raged on, and hatred brewed amongst both sides. Tired of the fighting, and now feeling cursed for the powers they were born with, a group of mages fled to find a new home for them and their brethren.
They stumbled upon Foraoise Dorcha, the Dark Forest, a place of danger and despair where very little light ever reached the forest floor. Fearful for their lives, and certain that no man would dare venture into the woods, the mages entered. As they stumbled their way through the strange new fauna and flora, eventually they found a spot where no creature of the forest dared to enter. Here, the mages built Dorcha Hollow, and hoped that in time, more of their people would flee to this land and together they could finally build the safe haven their people so deserved.
Dorcha Hollow now stands in the Dark Forest. Having only existed for less than a year, the mages in the settlement still have much progress to make and much to learn about the surrounding areas. Currently, as the settlement is small, it manages to survive just fine with little governmental affairs, and a bartering sort of economic system. All being refugees, almost every mage is willing to help one another simply out of the goodness of their hearts, for the time being. The elder mages, recognized more for their wisdom and skill rather than just age, currently guide the Hollow into what they hope will be the right path. As the population grows though, there is the suspicion that their way of life will bring new troubles. Will they be able to expand further into the forest to accommodate all of the refugee mages? Will they eventually start a proper economy or government to sustain the life they currently have? Or will everything fall apart, and once again the mages will be forced to hide their gifts in the world of the non-magic users? Only time will tell...
