"Ho-ly shit, Sally.."
Danyal figured the little girl had some power in her, but he had no idea she had that much power. He stood by, dumbfounded, as the lava erupted and engulfed Oakthur, setting him on fire and filling his open wound with lava. "Jeeze.. I .. I almost feel bad for the guy," he stuttered out to nobody in particular. When the tree-man started stumbling, Danny took a few steps back, then jumped a bit, to make sure the flaming, magma filled creature didn't get near him. His eyes followed the staff as it moved toward the wraith, and he shouted, thinking for a moment to move forward and stop it, but there was no time; before he knew it, the wraith had been covered in thick, bark-like armor, and that mist began coming out.
Danny shouted out at the group. "Eldak, try to blow that mist away! Don't let it touch anybody if you can help it." He put Sally back on his shoulder, and she lazily climbed into his jacket. Apparently she was calm now, and decided to take a nap in the midst of the chaos. "Daja, chip away at that armor. None of us can touch it as long as it's there." Then, his eyes moved to the open mouth. He glared at the creature, sneering, and pulled a pair of daggers from his jacket pocket. "Say 'Ah', you creepy son of a bitch!" With a flick of his wrists, he hurled the daggers through the air, aiming at the wraith's mouth. With any luck, at least one would land, and .. who knows?

Perhaps it would be nice to have Support, Offensive, and Crafting subforums, with Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced subforums in those?

▪ DANYAL "DANNY" BRIGHTS▪ Danny's a simple enough guy, even if it might not look like it at first glance. He likes being alone, but he also loves spending time with friends - especially since he's come here, and lost his friends from the outside world. So, while he may enjoy his moments of solitude, he also goes out of his way to make connections, for both business and social reasons. On that note! ▪ friends ▪ As said above, Danny is always happy to make friends. He's quite personable when he wants to be, although when he's in a quiet mood, it could be said that he has a small case of "bitchy resting face" - when he doesn't have his mind on being social, it may wander, and appear that he's not interested in conversation. This isn't always true (although surely it sometimes is), and if Danny's in public, he's generally a pleasant and kind guy. Danny is also always happy to meet others whose skills complement his own. This can make not only learning and expanding one's magical skills easier, but if a job requires a varied skillset, good networking can be vital. Along the note of complementing abilities, Danny's natural affinity for Dark-element magic has made him very interested in either Demonology (preferred) or Necromancy. So if you're a Warlocke or a Necromancer, and you wanna discuss your craft, Danny will be your best bud. Unless you're, like, super evil. And even then, he might be willing to make moral compromises. Danny's not evil. But he's not always good either. ▪ enemies ▪ Danny isn't big on having enemies. They're too much work. He tries his best to get along with everyone. That doesn't always work though, does it? No matter how hard you try, sometimes people just don't fucking like you, and there's not a darn thing you can do about it. Sometimes, people are just rude. And sometimes they talk a bigger talk than they're able to back up. These are the most likely scenarios in which somebody is likely to make it on Danny's "naughty" list. ▪ romance ▪ Que Sera, Sera. He ain't lookin' for anything, but whatever happens happens. If you've got an idea, I'm all ears. |

BREATH OF MAGMA
Intermediate
Description: When in a defensive or aggressive posture, the Inferno Salamander can summon up a lava-like substance from her belly to spit at opponents.
Effects: The lava has the capability to set combustible materials on fire upon contact, and does a good amount of damage to living tissue. Given the nature of the attack, the lava will remain sitting on whatever it touches for a short time (2 posts, 1 if the victim takes measures to remove the lava) and continue to hurt. However, since it is magical in nature, it will dissipate after that time.

I'M ON FIRE
Beginner
Description: By rubbing both palms together vigorously and then separating them, a small ball of fire approximately two inches in diameter appears between the user's hands.
Effects: This fire can be used to ignite flammable material, such as a campfire or a piece of paper. This fire cannot be used to ignite a living animal, including humans and the like, and if the conjured fire touches the flesh of a living creature, it will dissipate instantly without effect. However, once the flame has been used to ignite something, that fire will hurt to touch just as any other. If the conjured fire is not used to ignite something, it can be easily held in the user's hand without harming him for a short time (2 posts), at which point it will dissipate if unused.

GREEN THUMB
Beginner
Description: By nicking the user's palm lightly and letting a single drop of blood fall on to a patch of dirt, a small plant no larger than a foot tall grows up. The plant immediately (1 post later) sprouts multiple reddish-black berries . This plant is obviously supernatural to anybody who knows anything about botany, and cannot be found anywhere in the natural world.
Effects: See description. The berries taste sweet and fill the belly of exactly one person. If more than one person tries to share the berries, neither will feel any fulfillment. These berries are enough to feed a person for an entire day; the person who consumes the berries will certainly still feel hungry, as if they had eaten the bare minimum to survive, but they will be nourished.

QUIET AS A MOUSE
Beginner
Description: The user must concentrate on gathering Wind energy around himself, which coalesces at his feet. When under the effect of this spell, the user's feet appear wispy and smokey near the soles.
Effects: As long as he concentrates on this spell, the user's footsteps are completely silent to innate hearing. He can step over twigs, leaves, and creaky floorboards, and still make no noise. While concentrating on this spell, the user may not take complex actions (basically, he can only move, not attack or cast other spells), and though his steps are inaudible to innate hearing, appropriate spells can pierce the effect.

Danny was satisfied that their combined efforts had caused Oakthur to stumble; despite the fact that this tree thing was powerful, he had confidence that the group could take him down, so long as they kept their wits about them, and used their abilities to their full extent. Watching Oakthur get beat on was a pretty guilty pleasure to watch as well. Smug bastard. A grin came over his face.
And faded away as soon as that screech returned.
Oakthur was yelling. Eldak was yelling. People were stumbling around. At his warning, Danny quickly pocketed his daggers and put his hands over his ears as the wind filled the area. Damn impressive attack from that little bird. He wondered if Onork's familiar was as powerful, that silly squid-thing. What of his own familiar, Sally, who was --
Danyal could feel a heat starting to rise near his chest. Sally had been inside Danny's jacket, tucked away in a pocket, resting and listening, taking in the world around her. Her master had told her to stay put, and stay put she did. Even when he had been jostled around by the chameleon, even when he cut his hand to give a sacrifice to the pedestal. All the while, she sat and waited.
But all of that damn yelling was starting to get on her nerves. She poked her head out from the jacket and watched as Oakthur screamed and yelled about the wraith. Her scales started shifting to a bright orange color, burning hot from her core. It didn't burn Danny, but he could still feel the heat, and knew that she would burn someone else if they were to touch her. "Sally, it's okay, just--" Danny was going to try to sooth her, but she would have none of it. She was angry, and she wanted the obnoxious treeman to stop yelling.
The salamander's mouth was closed, and her cheeks started bulging. To Danny, it looked as if she was about to vomit. He quickly, but gently, grabbed her around the body and lifted her in front of him. At that very moment, a stream of lava erupted from her mouth, like a volcano that was pointed forward, directly at Oakthur. Danyal grinned wide. "It's gettin' hot in here, boys and girls!"
(( Sahalazraddin is using her "Breath of Magma" spell, aiming it at Oakthur. ))

Even as the Wraith had started sinking and disappearing, even as it had hold of Eldak, Danyal kept his concentration on that blinding spell. It fizzled away, and by the time the scout was able to react, so much had already happened. Maaren's tentacles, Elysia and Kuroth joining the fray, and the eventual defeat of the wraith - Danny merely watched, afraid to interfere with a crucial spell, or get in the way of Daja's badass (but scary) abilities. In the end, the wraith was defeated. But, before he or anyone else could breath a sigh of relief, they'd heard that voice. He glanced up to see Oakthur, the douche tree man descend into the group. Danny jumped backward, readying his daggers, then thought back to the scales of the beast from before - if those deflected his blades, surely this bark would as well. Just then, Oakthur summoned forth those three bulbs, causing Danyal to be simultaneously worried and confused as to their purpose. No time to contemplate things now. Just as Eldak before him, he knew he had to act. Being near Eldak, and also being friends with the man previously, Danny focused on his actions for a moment. He saw the elf reach for the dagger, and grinned. As Eldak loosed that dagger toward Oakthur, Danny moved to the outside of the ring of combatants. He skirted around them, hoping that Oakthur would be distracted by the attack headed his way, and being very sneaky himself, he tried to remain unnoticed. He moved behind Oakthur, being as silent as possible, and prepared a spell once more. From his position behind Oakthur, he sheathed his daggers (they would be useless now anyway) and felt dark magic coursing through his body, from his toes to his fingers. He directed that energy toward Oakthur, and it wrapped around him, then coalesced into his eyes. If this worked, it might make him unable to aim his upcoming spell. If it didn't, Danny had to rely on his teleportation. Either way, he was in it now. [] Danny cast "Now You See Me" on Oakthur []

Danny reached down to take his own crystallized blood sample - such an odd time they were all having in this tree, even more odd than he had experienced before, and he was hating it as much as he was loving it. He read the pedestal's new riddle as well, contemplating it silently, letting the others do the talking for now. When they all heard that screech, he reached into his jacket and made sure he had one of his daggers in each hand, ready for whatever was about to happen.
Then that wraith came down, screeching up a storm, and Danyal was, admittedly, caught off guard. He expected a great many things; that damn wraith was not one of them. A few steps backward, he chewed on his lip, looking around, gauging his surroundings even as Daja intercepted the wraith and slammed her hammer into its face, causing it to burst into flames. The next few movements happened in a blur; Danny saw Warlock magic wrapping it, and he was curious, having a fascination for the warlock's abilities. Cold burst forth from the wraith, and he saw those mouths open, shooting forth their frozen daggers.
His wits came back to him just in time to duck down, rolling away from the attack, moving behind the now-bound Wraith. He wasn't quite fast enough; one of the ice blades sliced a small cut on Danny's shoulder, enough to make him wince in pain and for a bit of blood to spray on to the ground. That was going to have to be seen to later, but for now he'd survive. Safely behind the creature, he closed his eyes and concentrated on Dark magic flowing through himself, wrapping around the Wraith's ice-blue eyes, blinding him. It, too, was Dark magic, but it should hold - and to make sure, Danny put all of his effort into his, fists clenched tight.

Danny leaned forward to accept the handshake, grinning from all the smiles and clapping, and held his hand out toward Eldak. When that little fire appeared at the last moment, Danny laughed aloud and shook his head. "Very nice, man." That's when he, too, heard the footsteps and saw movement.
Danny noticed another familiar face (er .. y'know .. glowing set of eyes) near the area, and he grinned, bringing a hand up to wave. "Hey there, Onork." He laughed a bit as he saw the wizard's reluctance to join the conversation of his own accord, and motioned for him to come forward. He made a note of the squid-thing, and nodded appreciatively. "Seems we all made out pretty well in that egg hunt, huh? Didn't have that when I saw ya last."
"Well, Onork, this is Eldak. And I'm Danny. Looks like we're the three Familiar amigos, huh?"

Good lord. This was an interesting day. Take a walk around Crann Mor. It'll be good for ya. Danny was wishing with all of his might that he had simply stayed home today. Maybe Onork would show up, and Danny could convince him to rewind time, and he would just stay in bed all day.
Ugh. Ah, well. He was here, now. Although the ringing in his ears and the fact that his vision was a bit blurry made it abundantly clear that he had taken a pretty severe blow to the head. Wait, what happened exactly? Daja had grabbed the Warlock, and Danny .. oh.
Right.
Danny had learned a very valuable lesson then. Crann Chameleons have really freaking thick scales, and normal daggers couldn't pierce them. Information that would have been useful earlier, but at least now he knew. He sat up, having apparently fallen down to the ground after his botched attack, and looked around. Dead chameleon. Scales everywhere - he took a moment to shove some of those into his pockets. The smell of burning flesh and hair, and the sight of the torched bat. Apparently he had missed out on a few minutes, and he wasn't exactly sure what had transpired. He did know one thing, though. He heard more voices, and he couldn't see Maaren.
There were too many people here for Danny's tastes. Too much could go wrong, too many people could get hurt. He thought about throwing in the towel, but he was invested now. He'd solved the first riddle. He couldn't just leave now.
And, so, Danny stood and dusted himself off a bit, finding and re-pocketing his daggers. He glanced up and took a deep breath, tilting his head side to side to pop his neck, then gracefully leaping up into the air. Just to make sure he made the jump, he teleported an additional five feet toward the vine, grabbing on to it tight. Up he went, and, just in case anybody else was on the vine and in his way, he'd teleport past them until he got to the landing that held Maaren, Daja, and, now, Eldak. He seemed a bit surprised, and he laughed a bit. "Holy heck, small world, huh? What's up, Eldak." He stepped up to the pedestal, read it, and looked to Eldak, then the warlock. "Glad to see you're safe, Maaren. Alright, ante up, ladies and gentlemen. This'll be the second time I've cut myself for this damn tree."
Danny couldn't help but chuckle as he pulled the same dagger he'd used to prick his palm before. He wrapped his left hand around the blade, took a deep breath, and made a deeper cut. He followed their actions, letting his blood flow appropriately, then grunted. "Damn, that hurt."
