THE TEA SPIRIT THIRTY-SIX(?) APRIL 12 | FEMALE HETEROSEXUAL ORACLE/TEA BLENDER | |
AISLINN CIAR |
★ APPEARANCE
Aislinn is a strange sort of woman, a hybrid of sorts. She believes herself to be a cross between a Celtic Fae and an Eastern Spirit or even minor god. This odd mix shows through in every aspect of her being. Her hair is long, and raven black, cut flat at the ends so it cascades down her back like a dark curtain. Her complexion is rather pale, ghostly so, like delicate porcelain. As far as her figure goes, it also gives off the sense of fragility, as Aislinn is both very long and very thin. The exception to this would be her bosom, which is quite ample in size despite the rest of her figure. When she walks she moves with a fae-like grace, and every movement seems both delicate and dangerous. Her eyes are hardly ever wide open, as her lids usually fall halfway down her eyes in a curious or mischievous manner. Their color is a deep blood red, though some have sworn to see her eyes in other hues. Aislinn neither confirms nor denies this suspicion. Either way, her eyes are the most disconcerting thing about her, and perhaps the only thing that really breaks the fae glamour of her appearance and shows her true self.
As far as attire goes, Aislinn is a frivolous woman, who appreciates her fine clothes, fabrics, and accessories. Being of both Western and Eastern decent, her clothing reflects a mix of these two cultures. Sometimes she is adorned in kimonos, ones of expense and beautiful embroidery. On other occasions she will don a feathered hat and a corseted dress. No matter what the ware, it always seems expensive, and it is a wonder a woman with her occupation would be able to afford such frivolities. As far as her age goes, Aislinn appears to be around her mid-thirties, but given her mixed blood from such long living spirit folk, it is highly unlikely that this is her true age. She may be much older, though Aislinn would admit to it. It is rather impolite to ask a woman her age after all.
★ PERSONALITY
While Aislinn appears to be a charming and lovely woman, when she opens her mouth, many beg to differ. Each word rolls off her tongue slowly and in a haughty sort of manner. Many even go so far as to call her pretentious, especially when she starts spouting her words of wisdom at you.
She appears pretty lazy especially with how slowly she moves and speaks, and it is not uncommon to see her lounging about or leaning against something. Aislinn is quite the hard worker though, when it comes to her passions. Everything else, she could care less for, unless it directly interests her. In this way, she is very egocentric, and pretty selfish. However, that is just on the surface. Deep down, Aislinn does take interest in people, mostly people who she has seen the fate of in the tea leaves, and wishes to lend a helping hand the best she can, or even help that fate along. In the public eye though, she is just plain unmotivated, self-centered, and unpleasant. She also tends to come across as pretty gloomy, mostly because her general outlook on life is very neutral or negative, and never very positive.
However, Aislinn is a sociable person. At least, she does like being around people when she doesn't have a deadline to meet, or something important to be doing. She feels the best way to strengthen her own future and learn is by interacting with others. With so many other magic users around now, Aislinn is more than willing to use her magics to help them, though usually only if she'll benefit in someway. Still, it is nice to know that she isn't completely taciturn. She just isn't very willing to bend her personality to better get along with others. Making enemies doesn't seem to bother Aislinn though, probably because as a seer, she feels like she holds their future in her hands, whether she actually does or not.
★ HISTORY
Aislinn was the result of an odd kind of romance. Her father was a Vate, a Celtic seer, and of the Fae folk at that. Her mother was from the East, and was a creature of nature, whether a spirit such as the Kodama or a minor god even, Aislinn never knew, nor bothered to ask. Because of such a strange union, it was no surprise a child gifted in the magical arts was born. She was a strange hybrid though, and looked foreign in any land, especially her homeland with her father, or her mother's country.
Why her mother came to the Western lands was a mystery. She never quite explained, and really was a minimal presence in Aislinn's life as she grew. Her father was the one who mostly took care of the child, being a creature of constant physical form, while her mother was a wanderer, part of the earth, part of the air, and never in one place for long. She would visit, and teach the young girl how to harness her powers. Aislinn inherited her mother's affinity for nature, and her father's powers for seeing the future.
The area in which Aislinn felt most at ease was tea. During the time of her adolescence it was a rich and rare brew, gifted to kings and queens alike in both the West and the East. Medicine men claimed it had healing properties, others that it brought good fortune. Aislinn loved that it seemed to be the perfect connection between her two homes, a magical drink enjoyed in both the East and the West. It was there that she found her calling as a Tasseographer, being able to see the future clearest from the mix of water and tea leaves. Water had long been a conduit for scrying, plus her inherited affinity from her mother, it made the perfect fit.
As Asilinn grew older, she herself dabbled in the blending and brewing of tea, opening a tea house for those of magical and non magical descent. She charmed customers with her fortunes and tricks, even enchanted a few with her special brews. But when news came of war, Aislinn was more worried about her business than her life. Wartime was no time for frivolities like tea, though she did suspect that others would come calling her a witch in due time.
The woman left her shop, and her home behind to find a better audience for her tastes and abilities. Dorcha Hollow, she had heard from past customers, was the place many like her were flocking to, those with the gods' blessing. While Aislinn did not want to travel to such a dark and forbidden place, it was likely best for her business. Wizards would have more use for her magical brews and seeing abilities than any human at the time. Magic users deserved her talents more than the warring humans anyway.

★ MAGIC
PRIMARY SPECIALIZATION | TASSEOGRAPHY (Support)
Tasseography, whether you believe it to be a simple parlor trick or a type of clairvoyance, is the art of reading the future through tea leaves. Asilinn, having such a strong connection to the brew, uses her art of Tasseography for many things. It is unclear whether she predicts the future in the tea leaves, or whether she causes the future itself. However, if she ever enchants tea leaves before brewing them, you can guarantee that whatever she sees will come to pass, be it good fortune or ill will.
ANGEL SIGN (Plant)
When seen in the tea leaves, the Angel Sign symbolizes protection from evil, and good news. If Aislinn sees this in her cup, allies can expect wounds to be less deep, or to be able to avoid damage altogether. It takes one post for Aislinn to read the leaves, but the spell does not take effect until the next post. The blessing of the Angel Sign lasts for three posts, not including the "casting time."
FEATHER SIGN (Plant)
When seen in the tea leaves, the Feather Sign symbolizes a need for concentration. If Aislinn sees this in her cup, allies will find themselves able to push out distracting thoughts and concentrate on casting their magics better. This will only effect Beginner level spells, at this point in time. Magics used while the Feather Sign is in effect will be strengthened. It takes one post for Aislinn to read the leaves, but the spell does not take effect until the next post. The blessing of the Feather Sign lasts for two posts, not including the "casting time."
SPIDER WEB SIGN (Plant)
When seen in the tea leaves, the Spider Web Sign symbolizes the need to beware of traps. If Aislinn sees this in her cup, enemies will find themselves trapped in place for a brief moment. No matter how much they struggle, they will not be able to pry their limbs free from the invisible strands that tie them down. It takes one post for Aislinn to read the leaves, but the spell does not take effect until the next post. The curse of the Spider Web Sign lasts for one post, not including the "casting time."
SECONDARY SPECIALIZATION | TEA BREWING (Crafting)
Being versed in the art of Tasseography, and a Tea Connoisseur, it is no surprise that Aislinn knows how to blend and brew tea herself. If she acquires the proper ingredients, a mixture of herbs and tea leaves, she can create enchanting brews that not only sooth the senses but grant other powers to those who drink them.
PANACEA TEA (Water)
Using a mixture of enchanted wild herbs and boiling water, a tea can be brewed that helps heal many ailments of the mind and body. It will not cure physical wounds, but may help cure poison, stress, and the like, depending on the ingredients used.
AFFINITY TEA (Water)
Using a mixture of enchanted wild herbs and boiling water, a tea can be brewed that will grant the drinker the powers of the elements. This will strengthen their elemental magics, or even affect their resistance to elemental magics. The type of element the tea will grant depends on the ingredients used.
