"THE WOLF" TWENTY FOUR MARCH FIFTEEN | MALE PANSEXUAL Ranger/hunter | |
KIERAN |
★ APPEARANCE
Kieran is of a rather secretive race, a subfamily under the general race of faeries. The Failliors were somewhat shunned by the more benevolent faeries. They bordered on minor gods of chaos and war, and were all able to spin a convincing tale should they be required to. As such, they were also able to integrate into human society quite well, earning rather high positions in society. Failloirs were also able to shapeshift into various animals, provided they had absorbed the spirit of the animal before. Often, this resulted in an animal's death, though more skilled Failloirs were able to do so without harming the animal.
As typical of the Failloirs, Keiran has a slim and rather elegant structure that belies his physical strength. His hair is a light brown and his eyes a vibrant green that seems to shimmer with different shades of blue and green. He stands 196cm tall and weighs close to 85kg. Kieran possesses the typical "pretty boy" look, and can easily resemble someone else should he be provided with suitable materials.
As for his closet, Kieran tends to wear anything and everything, though relatively classy if not militaristic. He keeps his hair in a short ponytail, and occasionally wears a flower, though he never actually discloses why. He wears clothes that cover a lot of skin, for there are many scars beneath those clothes.
Back to the Faillors. Each had their own preferred shape as well as a permanent human shape that never seems to age. Well it does, but very very slowly. So basically they mature fast, though they don't show it after hitting their mid-twenties. Kieran's preferred shape is that of a direwolf, thus his alias. In his shifted form, long dense brown fur covers the direwolf's body, with lighter points on his belly, muzzle and tail. The canine is definitely tall, and even if a average human were to ride upon those withers it would actualy be quite feasible. Provided Kieran doesn't bite.
★ PERSONALITY
Chaotic is a good word. This man is more rebellious than your usual Failloir, he won't obey your orders unless you've proved to be his superior or at least equal, normally by proving to be a fair opponent. That being said, he's rather violent, and violence is really his first choice to respond to any situation.
When angered or forced to fight, it seems to awaken a sort of animal instinct that directs his movements, and sometimes in those really bad situations he doesn't remember anything he does. It's getting under control though, and only triggered when he's close to death.
With those whom he is close to, the faerie is fiercely protective, willing to lay his life down for the closest friends. He tends to get a little agitated too easily, so he does need a more calming or controlling influence around him. With enemies, well they'd just better run.
Like many of his kind, a strong self-preservation instinct remains so he might seem a little selfish at times. He's also not the politest gentleman around, and will use close to any method to get his way. Brutal, reckless and painfully blunt when he's not acting. Also, he can't handle rejection, but he's a good actor, and can mask it pretty well.
Wait, does he smile? The answer would be that he does, albeit rarely. To see a genuine smile by Kieran, you've got to be pretty darn important! He's good at faking emotions, though his "default face" would just be the epitome of neutral.
★ HISTORY
By the time Kieran came into this world, the Failloir were already losing power due to the "witch hunts" conducted in the sprawling grounds of the northern land Fraighrain. Once akin to minor gods, they were pretty much reduced to shapeshifting chaotic faeries that played with people for the fun of it. While practically immortal, they can be killed by mortal wounds, though their unnaturally quick healing rate does save many from the deathbed. Kieran's family was killed in that way, the boy only managing to escape after transforming and fleeing.
He sought refuge with the woodland nymphs, who were honestly a little too afraid of the Failloir child to refuse him. While there, he made a few friends, and helped the nymphs quite a bit. His power grew with the nymph's own strange magic presences which influenced him. When the hunters came to conduct the "witch hunts", he defended the forest in the shape of a direwolf, or occasionally a young man with blazing green eyes and a ferocious snarl, thus earning his alias.
The people knew there was something wrong with that forest. Despite the bright atmosphere, there was always a lurking presence, namely the remaining Failloirs that had sought refuge there. They were generally solitary, so despite being his kinsman the other Failloirs did not heed the young faerie. Some even went to the village and killed several in their rage. It eventually escalated until the people took their new war technology and quite literally burned down the forest.
Kieran escaped, just barely, with horrible burns over his body. When he first entered Dorcha Hollow, he took the form of the direwolf, lurking in the forest and slowly recovering, wondering if he should join the multiple people that lived in this particular magical society. Just recently, he entered Dorcha Hollow as a human. He hopes to find a few old acquaintances here, and there's a high chance he's here to stay.

★ MAGIC
PRIMARY SPECIALIZATION
(gaoithe mactíre ar || offensive wind)
While with the nymphs, he picked a few more tricks to manipulate his main magical element of wind. His trademark seems to be a faint small of fresh flowers. Maybe an underlying message that he's nicer than he seems to be?
GLAOCH MACTÍRE (wolf call)
A spell to be used after anáil dorcha, which causes the summoned apparition to solidify and attack target using the wind element. Summoned creature will only stay for a maximum of 5 posts, with each increasing post leading to increased fatigue. Through this period of time the wolf will gradually fade until it is unsummoned or time runs out. If used alone, will summon an offensive wolf that attacks on its own discretion.
ANÁIL DORCHA (dark breath)
Summons a smoky apparition of a wolf that will help with any task at hand. The wolf acts as a silent guardian and mentor, and will direct the user away from danger. The spirit will ignore the welfare of others, and only focus on the user's welfare, sometimes at the cost of others. It acts on its own free will and will stay for a maximum of 2 posts.
GAOTHA STOIRME (storm winds)
A basic spell that calls upon nature to inflict damage on an opponent by redirecting winds and increasing or decreasing their pressure. The spell is even more effective when used during a rainstorm, for then he is also able to direct water along with the wind.
SECONDARY SPECIALIZATION
(athrú craicinn || offensive null)
A skill unique to the Faillior. They are able to shapeshift at will, provided they absorb the essence of the creature beforehand. Skilled users are able to do so without killing the animal, though it send the animal into a deep trance. It is somehow impossible to shapeshift into other humans. The actual shifting into an animal is natural to them, but any additional "add-ons" require magic.
ATHRÚ FEABHSAITHE (enhanced shift)
Should the basic abilities of the animal absorbed prove insufficient, this spell can be cast to boost the user's abilities for a short period of time. (1-2 posts) Though it does heighten senses, it does not make the user invulnerable.
IONSÚ SPIORAD (absorb spirit)
Failloir are unique in that they can shift into almost anything they please. This spell has to be cast to attain a new form via absorbing the other's essence/spirit. With experience, the animal will only go into a temporary trance, though new and inexperienced users may end up killing the animal accidentally. The spell takes a toll on the user, draining the user's energy drastically for a short period of time.
