Klaiun'Lysilien |
★ APPEARANCE
Typical of his family, Lysilien is tall and thin. Graceful. Lacy, even. His pointed ears stick out ever so slightly from behind his naturally blue hair. The pale locks hang around his shoulders and positively shine in the right light. It's nothing special, though, and he isn't one to flaunt, so his head is covered more often than not. When he was young, Sil received an enchanted tattoo. It was a long standing tradition in his clan, so he wasn't really given much of choice. Not that he would have turned down the elegant wisps of ink that can change shape with a mere impulse from him. At any given hour, the dark lines will be in a different configuration on his skin; sometimes they even form words if he wants to keep track of an incantation or ingredient. Apart from that, Sil's body is rather unadorned: only one metal loop hangs from each ear and he may wear necklaces or rings of his own crafting on occasion.
As for clothing, Sil only wears what he find necessary. Pants and a shirt, or sometimes simply a vest. Some basic shoes. Lysilien doesn't go to lengths to hide himself in any way, but at the same time he is far from interested in standing out in a crowd. Though light-weight, his body does not look malnourished in the least. A pleasing trait he inherited with his race. If his tattoos aren't his most striking feature, then his eyes are. Pupils that would be unnaturally large for any other race rimmed by dark green irises are something that tends to stand out.
★ PERSONALITY
Apathetic. That's how most would describe the elf. If they didn't know him, that is. He isn't energetic, no, but he cares. In his own quiet, patient way. It may not be the best trait for a shopkeep, but Lysilien needs to make a living somehow. Living in the wilds and fending for himself just isn't for him. A quiet society where he can work with his hands to make things of his choosing is much preferred. Much like the rest of his race, Sil is calm and observant. Though he likes to keep his hands busy with crafting, he tends to look at the long-term rather than the short; no decision of any importance can be made without deep deliberation. Elves are not careless, but patient and calculating. Lysilien much prefers to take his time and prepare, so it is only so hard to catch the young man by surprise.
★ HISTORY
For the first two decades of his life, Lysilien lived with his parents in a rural community. There weren't many others like them around, but it wasn't as if Sil had never seen another of his race, either. The Klaiun clan was rather nomadic and widespread. His parents and a handful of relatives had settled at one point to focus on their craft: scroll-making. No others in their little town were capable of their own magic, so the spell-infused pages were taken to well. Too well. The people became dependent on the scrolls and when war started breaking out elsewhere, things only got more tense. A small family of magic crafters was not enough to satisfy the demanding mortals, so the Klaiuns had no choice but to flee the growing hostility.
Unfortunately, they had waited too long: Lysilien's father was murdered the night of their escape. The young adult--a twenty-year-old was a mere child to the long-lived elves--and his mother became separated from the others of their clan in the chaos. Lysilien hasn't seen any of them since. It took years of wandering and living on their own for the pair to finally near a safe place. Rumor had spread of a new haven for magic users deep in a forest.
On the way, Sil's mother had become sick. There was no healer for them to go to, and the woman did not know how to heal herself. In the short time she had left, she taught Sil what few spells she did know--before this, the boy had been training only in scribal duties without any real magic yet. Lysilien's mother died of her weakened state, and all the boy could offer her was a shallow grave. He was forced to travel the rest of the way to Dorcha Hollow alone.
Despite his inexperience, Sil took to magic well and had gathered plenty of mercantile knowledge from his family. Though he bored easily with scrolls, the idea of crafting enchanted him. He started up his own store as soon as he got settled in the small community. At first, he had only had a small stall in the market district, but eventually, with months of effort, he was able to claim a hollowed out tree for use as a small workshop. He sleeps in the same building and sells his products. It wasn't too long ago that a sign reading "Lysilien's Wares" was placed out front. If only his clan were there to see the child's impressive labor.

★ MAGIC
PRIMARY SPECIALIZATION
SPELL INFUSION (crafting)
Learned as a scribe, Lysilien has practiced imbuing materials with particular properties and his own spells. It has become easy for him to directly transliterate his own magic onto a page for a one use spell, just like the rest of his family. He endeavors to create longer lasting magic objects while he dabbles in offensive magic. While Sil prefers to enchant things with his own magic, he has also experimented with using magical materials as a substitute.
IMBUE (null)
This ability is crucial to Lysilien's crafting techniques. With ink on parchment and a crystal to harness the spell energy, he can directly infuse a scroll or object with one of his own skills. Though he can also use specific materials--such as gemstones or magical herbs--to create similar effects, he is less skilled at this, resulting in poorer quality products.
GROW (plant)
Materials may be needed for some of Sil's creations, and more complex works will invariably require some medium. This spell coxes organic beings--mostly plant life--to grow and mature. At the current level, it would really only be able to make a seed sprout or a flower grow. On complex creatures like people or monsters, it would likely have no discernible effect. At most, Lysilien might be able to make your hair grow a few inches.
CALL MATERIAL (null)
A simple telekinetic spell. Useful for gathering out of reach materials. Without being advanced, this spell would not be able to do much more than pick fruit from a high branch or move an object from across the room. With more experience, however, it could be used to wrest an object from a less forgiving setting, like a rock-encased gemstone or perhaps the heart from a living creature. For now, these are wildly out of reach for Lysilien.
CRAFT WEAPON (null)
This spell will allow the user to create a rather rudimentary weapon from raw materials. Wooden weapons (staffs and spear shafts etc) require no additional skills, but metalworking will require a higher spell level or additional skill. Can be used with other abilities to create enchanted weapons. The weapons can have details for vanity as well as special attachments (spearheads, crystals, etc) but cannot themselves be crafted using this spell.
SECONDARY SPECIALIZATION
ELEMENTAL MANIPULATION (offense)
These are simple spells that harness the elements in their purest form, purposed for offense. Lysilien can conjure a ball of energy to his palm and hurl it as an attack. If upgraded, these assaults would have the potential for massive damage, especially if capitalizing on an enemy's weakness.
FIREBALL (fire)
A ball of flame is summoned to the hand for the purpose of being thrown. Does average damage to target.
LIGHTNINGBALL (lightning)
A ball of electricity is summoned to the hand for the purpose of being thrown. Does average damage to target.
