What kind of evil creature would feel enmity toward such a kind man? Well, the evil, I guess. Bernard professes the glory of the gods and light near constantly, so others who aren't so fond of such things might be more inclined to dislike him. He doesn't typically seek out violent encounters with those who may disapprove of his beliefs, though, so there isn't much of a reason to do so to him.
Lovers:
Clerics like Bernard take a vow of celibacy, but that doesn't necessarily mean romance is out of the picture. It's just extremely unlikely. The man certainly won't pursue it himself.
