THE APPRENTICE FIFTEEN (15) JUNE 21 | MALE PANSEXUAL HEALER, ELDER'S APPRENTICE | |
FIEL |
★ APPEARANCE
Short and skinny, Fiel is by no means impressive or intimidating, although his soft facial expressions and bright copper eyes are often warm and inviting if not peculiar. He often wears red markings on his face to distinguish himself from others, although that isn't entirely necessary: as though his copper eyes didn't make him stand out enough, he has natural (and messy) white hair while most of his clan does not, whether they have light or dark hair and eyes. Paired with his size and kind demeanor, everyone knows who Fiel is. Additionally, he wears the comfortable clothes common among his clan: loose-fitting cloth shirt and pants with thin shoes.
★ PERSONALITY
Reserved but determined, Fiel has spent his whole life wanting something greater. He respects the wishes of his clan and his family in particular to such a degree that he has never gotten lost in the forest or, well, gotten into any trouble, but, also as a result of this, he longs to explore the world. His family knows it, but he never presses the matter.
Fiel also wants to prove that he can excel, and part of that is in healing others and learning from one of his clan's leaders. He is wholly opposed to weapons and tries to be a vegetarian, although he doesn't chastise or judge others for not agreeing with him. This is because he's a lover and, well, a healer: he wants to help others, he wants people to flourish, and he wants peace all around, even though that doesn't seem to be anywhere in sight in the grand scheme of things. Furthermore, Fiel worries about others because it's his nature to worry, and he would do almost anything to help someone in need. Because of all of this, he takes his apprenticeship and personal studies very seriously and rates them second only to living things.
His reserved nature often keeps him from making friends, but he does enjoy smiling and laughing with others, regardless of age. He wants friends as much as the next guy, and he's always overjoyed when people take the time to talk with him. Potential friends positively overexcite him, and this excitement can often make him stumble over his words and lose whatever ounce of eloquence he had left. Needless to say, if he had a romantic (or physical) attraction, he would probably turn into a bumbling idiot around him or her and more than likely make a total fool of himself.
★ HISTORY
Years ago, a group of mages, fearing that society might turn against them for their powers or lose sight of their own humanity in pursuit of wealth, decided to make a home in the woods, away from society and those concerns. Although it was perilous to explore the forest and find a place safe enough to fortify and quite a few mages were lost in the process, the group remained persistent and resilient and eventual set up camp in a clearing that would eventually become their home.
The mages turned to the ways of the woods around them to survive, so it only made sense that their magic adapted to fit those needs. They became proud of their achievements and vowed to always honor the forest and their history, for these allowed them to live free of the worries associated with the masses. They were comfortable and saw no reason to change their ways. Soon, they established their own laws and legal system and worked hard to maintain peace and prosperity among them.
Then, mage upon mage arrived and established a settlement, and the clan that had already been in the forest began to talk: should they join the settlement? After all, the mages had been chased off, just as the group feared, and they were brothers and sisters in magic. It only made sense that they should join the settlement. Still, the newly come mages having come from the same society that the clan had originally feared, the clan was unsure whether it would be wise to try to join them. They would, at least, associate with them, but they couldn't be sure of what the smartest long-term course of action with them would be.
Fiel grew up in this clan, and he was used to their ways. Although very open-minded and with a great desire to explore the world, he kept to his duties and listened to his elders. Along the way, he learned the different flora and fauna that grew within the forest and harnessed his magic in much the same way the mages around him had, and, at the behest of his parents as well as his own energetic desires, he eventually became the apprentice to the clan's most respected healer, who also served as one of the clan's chiefest elders. Needless to say, when the time comes, Fiel stands to replace one of the elders both as a prominent healer and as a chief elder of the clan, and the process of doing so would have begun at the age of sixteen, accelerating more vigorously beyond what he had been learning in childhood to ensure that he would be well prepared by the time he came of appropriate elder age.
Now that the new settlement has come, no one is sure whether the same system of healers and elders should remain. It all depends on whether the clan will want to join the new settlement. Fiel has mixed emotions, torn between wanting to join them and learn more about the world as well as wanting to work hard to prove himself capable of becoming an elder.

★ MAGIC
PRIMARY SPECIALIZATION
NATURE OF THE WILDS: SUPPORT
Years of living in the forest has allowed Fiel to specialize primarily in the different magical elements around him.
SLÁINTE
This intermediate-level water spell allows Fiel to heal moderately deep wounds and small scars as well as reduce bleeding in slightly larger wounds. Additionally, an intermediate proficiency allows Fiel to more easily pull water from the atmosphere in order to use this spell. Furthermore, this spell has the potential to slow or completely stop weaker infections or poisons from spreading, but it could never completely eradicate them.
SLÁN
This beginner-level null spell allows Fiel to alter the temperature by a small amount in a small area. The healers of his clan have used this spell on people with fevers or cooler-than-normal temperatures during the healing process, although it can also be used to alter personal comfort, as some of the clan do when they go on explorations or harvesting expeditions. Additionally, although this spell is too weak to do so now, it has the potential to alter the temperature of areas in such a way as to strengthen or weaken certain elements, such as fire, or natural occurrences, such as the mists of the forest.
TINE
This beginner-level fire spell allows Fiel to conjure a small flame for multiple uses: a small source of light, a small flame for brewing potions, or even sterilizing equipment that the healers use. Some of the clan even use this spell as bait or a beacon when hunting animals.
SECONDARY SPECIALIZATION
NATURE OF THE WILDS: CRAFTING
Years of living in the forest has allowed Fiel to study and understand different plants and properties of nature as well as how to craft them into potions.
GATHERING
A beginner's proficiency in gathering allows Fiel to differentiate between common plants, magical or nonmagical. Furthermore, in working with the healers for so long, experience allows Fiel to gather common ingredients for healing potions or any ingredients for basic healing potions with ease as well as recognize less common ones, but there's no way he could properly collect less common ones at this stage.
POTIONS
A beginner's proficiency in potion-making allows Fiel to craft basic healing potions for treating minor wounds and slowing minor infections or poisons. Additionally, he can recognize basic poisons, although he could not duplicate them or eradicate them from a human system.
