Onork dared not talk to himself, lest the space-time continuum get even more mad at him for pointing out its fallacy by doing so. Fortunately, Onork didn't need to talk to other Onork, because other Onork was the same person as Onork, so they would be having the same thoughts anyway. Which of them had been the one to go back in time by accident? What were the implications of similarly colored eggs during an egg hunt? Would they be able to fivetuple their record? So many questions, but they didn't ask each other for the answers, because how could other Onork know the answer if Onork didn't know the answer? Instead they decided to ask their two new friends...
Both of whom had disappeared.
This was bad. If they had disappeared, that could only mean one of two things. One, Onork was the Onork that went back in time to when those two weren't there yet, or two, they had become freaked out by the double Onork and left. Either possibility would be pretty bad, because then either Onork would be the Onork that died, or those people didn't want to be his friends. Onork puzzled over this for a moment when he realized something had changed about other Onork.
A tree branch had fallen on other Onork, who was now very dead. That was the fourth tree-related death Onork had in this forest. The space-time continuum needed to come up with more creative ideas. An egg rolled from other Onork's hand, and Onork stuffed it in his pocket without looking at its color. He didn't have time to freak out about egg colors, he had to catch up with those other people and try to explain that he wasn't some weirdo or something. Actually, that would be a lie. Onork would instead tell them that he wasn't a bad weirdo.
Onork tried following the muddy footprints leading away from the lake, but quickly lost track of them. He had escaped the lake, but the forest still had him in its clutches...
